Coombs Country Market

About 30 minutes before you arrive at The Hummingbird, Coombs is a great place to stop and stretch your legs. The market sports the famous "Goats on the Roof" as they live and graze on a grass roof during the summer months. There is also a great selection of food, fruits, vegetables, and delicatessen treats plus various novelty items from all corners of the world. Anyone for ice cream!!! So many varieties, so little time!

Beyond the market itself there are also more than a dozen other stores selling everything from used books, to jewelry, fresh fudge and home-made soap.

It has been delightful

The hummingbird is noted, among other things, for its beauty and the attention to detail that it takes in building its nest. The Hummingbird is a wonderful compliment to that tradition. There was a light rain falling the day we arrived - an event unfamiliar to us desert dwellers but the sight of the Hummingbird must have touched a memory of home. We stopped on impulse just to enquire and decided to stay two nights.
